About Meetings
OSPA MEETINGS
Meetings are an essential part of the OSPA program and an important tool to aid in recovery.
Who May Attend
The only requirement for attendance is a desire to stop skin picking. There is no other requirement. Hair pullers and self-mutilators are also welcome at OSPA meetings.
Does it cost anything?
There are no dues or fees. OSPA is fully self-supporting through voluntary member contributions; donations are welcome but never required. OSPA is free to all who need it.
What happens at an OSPA Meeting?
Formats vary, but common elements include the OSPA Welcome, Preamble, Twelve Steps, and Twelve Traditions; a member chairing; announcements; member sharing; and sometimes reading from Twelve Step literature.
Some meetings reserve time afterward to exchange phone numbers, answer newcomer questions, and talk in fellowship. Anyone who wishes to stay is welcome.
Why Attend Regularly?
Regular attendance helps members gain hope, identify with others, meet people who can help, and learn to apply the OSPA program, Steps, Traditions, Tools, Slogans, and literature in daily life.
What is Anonymity?
We do not take outside the meeting what we hear or see there. Members generally want their identities and stories to remain confidential. Tradition Twelve reminds us to place principles before personalities.
